Still Life Photos

photo info

ISO: 800
F-Stop: 3.5
Exposure: 1/40

For this weeks assignment I decided to do Still Life as my last photo assignment. For this assignment I decided to use a collection of things I love like baseball, basketball, golf, and hats and used them as props for my photo. In some of my pictures I used a black background for the photo but eventually thought that a brighter color would look better and then changed it so I had a brighter background and this is what I got.

Portrait Photos

ISO: 500
F-Stop: 4
Exposure: 1/60

For this weeks assignment I decided to do portrait. I found this one pretty easy because it was pretty easy for me to interact with the person that I'm shooting of. For the photo I choose AJ and I were messing around in the other room and trying to get some good portrait photos. We got a lot of good photos but they were boring and just of him smiling. So finally we decided to make him do a little something and I caught him at a good time in order to get this photo.

School context assignment

In this assignment our job was to take a picture of something at school and then using gimp add other things that were not in the photo into the photo to make it look like that they were actually in the photo. I took a photo of a tree outside and added a few things to it such as a fire a tent and a pterodactyl. Some things I struggled with in this assignment were making it look real and like it was actually there by cutting and erasing stuff that wasn't needed. It was also difficult to decide how to scale it and how to make it proportionally equal to the rest of the photo.

Black and White

ISO: 100
F-Stop: 4
Shutter Speed: 1/80

For this weeks photo assignment I decided to do Black and White. For this assignment the only thing that was a real struggle was to find somewhere where I could take a photo where it looked good in black and white that may not have looked that special with normal colors. The photo I took was of a bench in my backyard where it was kinda worn down and cool looking. I thought it was a good photo because the sun in the background is kind of giving it a cool aspect to it which I think looks cool in black and white.

Portrait Demo

At the beginning of the week we were told that we were going to be working with portrait photos. We learned about the 3 point light set up which has a key light, a fill light, and a hair light. The majority of the light comes from the key light which is on either side of the face. the fill light which is on the opposite side of the face gives some light to make the other side of the face not look like its in shadows. The hair light is on the top of the head or on the back of the head to make it look like it has some depth. After learning how to capture a good portrait photo it was my turn to go out and try to get one and this is what I came up with.

Light painting

ISO - 100
 f stop-2.8
Shutter Speed- 15 seconds

For this weeks photo assignment I decided to do light painting. I took the camera home for the weekend and messed around in the basement with it. I used my ipod as a light source to make it look like I was drawing lines with it. In this assignment some problems and challenges I ran into was when I was taking my photos my light source would be in the pictures at places where I didn't want it and was hard to hide. Also another problem I faced was 15 seconds was not always enough time for me to do what I wanted to do.
